Application Terms

Introduction

This End User License Agreement (“Agreement”) governs the submission of a scholarship application (“Application”) to the Masonic Foundation of the District of Columbia (“we”, “us”, “our”). By submitting an Application, you (“you”, “your”, “Applicant”) agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement.

Eligibility and Consent for Minors

General Eligibility: You affirm that you are at least 18 years of age, or an emancipated minor, or possess legal parental or guardian consent, and are fully able and competent to enter into the terms, conditions, obligations, affirmations, representations, and warranties set forth in this Agreement, and to abide by and comply with this Agreement.

Consent for Applicants Under 18: If you are under the age of 18, you must have your Application submitted by a parent or legal guardian on your behalf. Your parent or legal guardian agrees to this Agreement and consents to your submission of the Application, including all terms regarding privacy, security, and the use of your image as specified herein.

Privacy and Security of Personal Information

Collection of Personal Information: In submitting an Application, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information about yourself as requested by the Application form. You acknowledge that the collection of your personal information is necessary for the assessment of your Application and the administration of the scholarship.

Use of Personal Information: Your personal information will be used solely for the purpose of evaluating your Application, administering the scholarship, and any reporting requirements to relevant stakeholders.

Security of Personal Information: We are committed to the security of your personal information. We will take reasonable precautions to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, you acknowledge that no internet transmission is entirely secure or error-free and that we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your personal information.

Sharing of Personal Information: We will not share your personal information with third parties, except as required by law, or with your explicit consent.

Rights to a Person’s Image, Name, and Personal Information

Consent to Use of Image, Personal Information, and Testimonial: By submitting your Application and accepting the scholarship, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and display your name, year of application, university you are attending, year of scholarship receipt, degree goals, employer, and any images provided by you or taken of you by the association in connection with the scholarship program and related promotional activities. This includes both images you provide and images taken by us or on our behalf during scholarship-related events. Additionally, as a condition of the scholarship, you agree to provide a testimonial about the impact the scholarship has had on your life, which may be used by us for promotional purposes.

Revocation of Consent: You may revoke this consent at any time by providing written notice to us. However, any use of your name, image, or personal information that occurred prior to your revocation will remain unaffected.

General Terms

Changes to Agreement: We reserve the right to modify this Agreement at any time. Your continued submission of Applications following such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the modified Agreement.

Governing Law: This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the District of Columbia, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.

Severability: If any provision of this Agreement is unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this Agreement and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.

By submitting an Application, you acknowledge that you have read this Agreement, understand it, and agree to be bound by its terms and conditions.
