We Make Educational Dreams Come True

For over two decades, the Masonic Foundation of the District of Columbia has created opportunities for high-performing high school graduates to achieve their dreams through scholarships.

The scholarships:

Candidates may qualify for 1 of 2 scholarship opportunities, which if selected would enable them to receive up to $10,000 in yearly tuition assistance, renewable for up to four (4) years, total.1

1. An option to renew scholarship 3 times if you maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.

The scholarships are as follows:

Masonic Foundation of DC Scholarship (MFDC Scholarship)

Graduating high school senior from a DC public or DC public charter school.

DC Freemason Scholarship (DCM Scholarship)

Graduating high school senior who is a family member or dependent of a Freemason in good standing with the Grand Lodge, Free And Accepted Masons, of the District of Columbia in Washington, DC. 4

4. A living Freemason in good standing with the Grand Lodge, Free And Accepted Masons, of the District of Columbia in Washington, DC with a valid dues card number.  Eligible familial relationships include those where the Freemason is a great-grandparent, grandparent, parent, or legal guardian of the scholarship applicant.

Graduate from a DC public or public charter high school
Graduate from any accredited high school
Family Member / Guardian is not a DC Freemason4
Family Member / Guardian is a DC Freemason4
4. Application minimum requirements

  • GPA of 3.0 or greater1
  • File a complete online application with:
    • Complete Application Questions
    • FAFSA Form with Estimated Student Aid Index (SAI)
    • At least 1 recommendation specific to the scholarship
    • Parent or legal guardian approval and signature if you’re younger that 18 years old at the time of the application submis
  • Materials received on or before April 30, 2024 (Next year’s application form will open on February 1, 2025 and close on April 30, 2025.)

Applicant criteria

  • Qualifications
    • Graduating senior from a DC Public or DC Charter School (MFDC Scholarship).
      • or
    • Graduating senior who is a dependent of a DC Mason in good standing (DCM Scholarship).
  • High academic performance, with a GPA of 3.0 or greater1.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Participated in service to their communities and school.
  • Requiring financial need.
  • Applicant will attend a tuition based post-secondary institution2 or trade school.

2. A post-secondary institutions may include an accredited community college, college, or university.

What does not qualify3

  • Incomplete applications.
  • Applications not received on time.
  • Attending a post-secondary institution2 or trade school where tuition fees are not required.
  • Non-US Citizen.
